Foo Fighters have made a comeback with their new song “Rescued.” This marks the band’s first song since the death of beloved drummer Taylor Hawkins in March last year. “Rescued” dropped Wednesday as the Foo Fighters announced “But Here We Are,” their 11th studio album, due June 2.
The lyrics have a portion that is seemingly about the rights of transgenders, according to fans on Reddit. The lyrics state:
“We’re all free to some degree
To dance under the lights
I’m just waiting to be rescued
Bring me back to life.”
Kings and Queens and in-betweens
We all deserve the right
Kings, Queens, and In-Betweens is a book by Tanya Boteju about gender identity and the drag queen scene.
A press release describes “But Here We Are” as “a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year” and “a testament to the healing powers of music.”
The release continues:
“ ‘But Here We Are’ is the sound of brothers finding refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life.”
Foo Fighters recently surprised the fans after the band shared what appears to be a teaser of new music. They have been teasing the fans as Dave Grohl and co-shared a short clip of a riff-driven song – leading fans to believe that new music or the announcement of a new album was forthcoming. The band are currently gearing up to play their first full headline shows since the tragic passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins last year. After confirming that they would be continuing as a band without him.
