Tool’s performance from Power Trip Festival has gone viral. Fans took some videos from the pit and have shared it on Social Media.
Danny Wimmer Presents’ “Power Hour” interviewed Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan. He was asked to share his thoughts on performing with the other legends. Maynard let his words do the talking because they expressed how he felt performing alongside such legendary names.
It’s overwhelming to be put in the same list with those people. All you can really do is not worry about it — just kind of do what you do and try to do it the best you can so that you don’t look like a clown next to these superstars.

While appearing on “The Vinyl Guide” podcast, Tool bassist Justin Chancellor got asked if there’s any update on the follow-up to their 2019 album “Fear Inoculum”, and if the band has started writing on it. Chancellor said that the band is currently not writing, but there are ideas in place. They will start making things happen after their tour stops next spring.
We’ve got many ideas cooking. We haven’t recorded anything yet. But we’re quite busy until — I guess until after the spring of next year touring. So once that’s done, we’re gonna get back in the studio and knuckle down and put some of it together. We’ve already had a few pretty decent sessions of writing. So we’ve got the ingredients in place. We’ve just gotta really bang it out and spend that time when we’re not touring.
He also talked about the possibility of ideas around previously released albums and if there were any shared during the songwriting sessions.
Yeah, tons from the last album. We have tons of ideas, but not recorded to the standard we’d put on an album. Just kind of, I’d say, lots of demoed stuff. And then just tons of ideas just kind of stored away.
Tool released “Fear Inoculum” in August of 2019. The album went on to being number 1 amongst Billboard’s Top 200. NPR, Revolver, and Consequence praised the album. The band released “Opiate2” last year with a short video making it the first video in 15 years.
“Opiate2” was a re-imagined and extended version of the 1992 EP’s title track. Tool has also released “Fear Inoculum” vinyl, which was the Ultra Deluxe edition. It has five 180-gram vinyl discs with a unique etching and a booklet with pictures that contains the never-before-seen artwork.
Founded in 1990, Tool has Danny Carey on the drums, Justin Chancellor for the bass, Adam Jones on the guitar and Maynard James Keenan with his voice. The band has released five studio albums till date with Undertow in 1993, Ænima in 1996, Lateralus in 2001, 10,000 Days in 2006 and Fear Inoculum in 2019.
